How to pre-order a nature lesson?

From April 1st till June 30th, „NATURE LABORATORY” invites to nature lessons, nature movies projections in 3D or to take a walk on one of the educational paths. All activities in „Nature Laboratory” are free of charge. School, kindergarten, culture center, community center are required to confirm participation in the lesson. Application and confirmation forms to download below

Nature lessons, educational paths walks and movie projections in Nature Cinema are conducted from 9.00 to 16.00 after phone registration (666 028 991, 666 028 992) or by mail – laboratorium@nida.pl, a week in advance. Nature-related lessons and screenings are also conducted every first Saturday, from 10.00 to 16.00. Maximal participants number per group: 20. Lessons last 45 minutes and are conducted in the rooms and in the Pottery Village area. The common element of the lessons is solving nature puzzles and collaborative reading of natural fairy tale “Mazurskie czary”.

Nature lessons topics:

  • BUTTERFLIES OF MASURIAN MEADOWS
    The main aim of the lesson is to learn to recognize Masurian butterflies. The participants will come to know the butterflies life cycle, their role and relevance for maintaining biodiversity and also will learn how to recognize few basic species. Moreover, the participants will gain the knowledge how to invite a butterfly to their own gardens.
  • WHY DO WE NEED BEES AND BUMBLEBEES?
    During the lesson, children will come to know the significance of bees and bumblebees for nature and for human life. Also, the participants will learn about the means of acquiring honey and about its many uses. The students will be informed about the consequences of bees extinction and the means of protecting those insects. Moreover, children will come to know why the biodiversity is so important and how to make a simple ‘house’ for wild bees and bumblebees.
  • MASURIAN AMBER
    During the lesson, children will learn about the origin of amber and about the fact that amber was in the past also found in the area of Kamionka. The children will learn to recognize amber and will come to know about its uses and properties.
  • TREASURES OF THE EARTH
    The main aim of this lesson is to present various rocks, fossils and minerals. The „Treasures of the Earth” gallery will provide participants with the opportunity to see various exhibits of rock formations, minerals and fossils. The children will learn how to recognize few basic types of rocks.
  • LIFE IN THE MEADOW
    During this lesson, children will come to know about life in the meadow ecosystem, learn to distinguish meadow landscapes and to name common meadow plants. The children will learn about the dangers connected with burning up of grass.
  • BIRDS’ PANTRY – HOW TO HELP THE BIRDS TO SURVIVE WINTER
    The main aim of the lesson is to get to know those species of birds that spend winters in Poland. The children will come to know how to help birds and which plants are their food source during winter. The participants will learn the names of few bushes that can provide shelter and food for birds. Children will also be informed about the birds relevance for biodiversity.
  • STORK MIGRATIONS
    During the lesson, children will become familiar with a stork way of life, nest construction process, winter migrations and about ways of adapting to season of the year. The children will come to know about the stork habits and about what a stork eats. The children will have an opportunity to observe the bird live.
  • EDIBLE AND POISONOUS MUSHROOMS
    During this lesson, children will become familiar with the structure of a mushroom. They will learn about the significance of mushrooms in biodiversity and also how to recognize basic species of edible and poisonous mushrooms.
